The Power of Art - Rakugo will bring peace and joy!
Rakugo is a Japanese traditional performance started in the 18th century in Japan. It is a unique style monologue of telling comedic stories, tales, and anecdotes that a Rakugoka (Rakugo storyteller) plays several characters at once and differentiates through tone of voice and gestures.
Katsura Sunshine
Katsura Sunshine is the first non-Japanese practitioner of Kamigata (Osaka) style Rakugo and only the second non-Japanese to be trained in Japan. Following his early successes in theatre in his native Canada, he moved to Japan and completed a full Kamigata apprenticeship under master and TV presenter Katsura Bunshi VI, who awarded Katsura Sunshine his stage name as per Rakugo tradition. Katsura Sunshine has been performing Rakugo worldwide ever since, in English and in Japanese, and across four continents.
